I'm moving to.......nowhere.

You hear it every election. Some jack ass a la Sean Penn starts ranting about how he'll move to France or Canada if the conservative candidate wins. They rarely do, but that's not the point. Do you know why you never hear a conservative say that? BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOWHERE TO GO!!!!! This is it, freedoms last chance, right here.

Gun rights, free market economy, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, a right to self defense, there are countries that have some of these things, but we were the last country to have all of them. I use the past tense because we actually lost some measure of many of these rights many years ago, but we have yet to go as far down the socialist road as the rest of the world. I have a feeling that's about to change, and it saddens me.

I've said it for years, if you need cradle to grave nanny state socialism, if you're too incompetent to care for yourself and to make your own decisions, leave. There are plenty of countries that have exactly what you're looking for. This is the last country in the world where we play by big boy rules. Quit trying to screw it up for me because I have nowhere to go.

I've always been a bit of a pessimist when it comes to politics, but I truly feel genuine despair right now. I have the distinct feeling that the constitution is about to be gutted like a fish. We are one SCOTUS judge away from having the entire federal government in the hands of those who consider the constitution to be a living document (read: toilet paper.)

I'm reminded of Mencken when he said "Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard."
